Renewal (update)

If you have kept up with my blog, then I am sure that you noticed that I did not keep up with my Meditation Challenge for the month of May.  You will have noticed that I stopped on May 18th after posting an article called “Why I stopped meditating: acts of rebellion + intention” and I haven’t blogged since.  Well, there is a reason for why I stopped meditating and blogging and if you read the post on May 18th, you will have a good understanding why this was so.

I started blogging as a way to educate myself, as a way to show my journey as it progresses and to gain some small bit of happiness and clarity for myself.  Over the course of my meditation challenge, the focus and reasoning of my blogging shifted from sharing my journey and having the aid of others in the cyber world to a chore that I felt like needed to be completed daily.  I didn’t want this to happen.  I didn’t want to meditate for those reasons.  I want to meditate and post on my blog when I feel compelled to do so with the right intention.  I want to blog as often as possible, but at the same time, I don’t want to feel obligated to blog.  The purpose of my blog is not to see how many people will view it a day, as I have started to make it, but for me; solely and 100 percent for me to document my journey, to get others to understand where I am coming from and to aid me in becoming the person that I want to be.

I stopped blogging to come back to the original reasoning for my Christian-Buddhist Journey.  I am finding this journey to be really interesting as I continue to meditate when I feel the need to.  I find this journey to be really interesting as I am building my believes and understanding of the world.  From this point on, I will not have a scheduled time to blog or specific things that I will blog about.  I hope you find understanding and will find the need to aid me as I work through life.

– The very thing I was doing to feel liberated felt confining. (1)

Thank you…

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of people who have viewed my blog in the past two months.  I began this blog to aid me in my journey to gain inner peace and happiness.  I was a Christian for all of my life.  And though I have Jesus in my life, I have not always been able to see happiness in myself.  With Buddha’s teachings, which so closely reflect the teachings of the Bible, I have been venturing toward a place of happiness.  Tomorrow marks the two month anniversary of the beginning of this journey as well as full moon celebration of the birth of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha in several countries.  Thank you all for taking this journey with me.  Below, is a list from my stats page of all the countries and views I have received from March 6th – May 4th.  I hope to continue my journey with you all for many more months and years.  Thank you again…

April – Earth Day Challenge (Update – My Experience)

This past Sunday afternoon, I decided to take a walk with my partner and complete the April – Earth Day Challenge that I made with my blogging world a while back.  We grabbed a plastic grocery bag and began my daily walk to my work place, which is 0.5 miles (850 meters) from my apartment.  Along the walk, I picked up papers, tissues, bus passes, and many other items that were next to the sidewalk, while my partner encouraged and aided in picking up the garbage.  At first,it felt awkward to be outside walking along the sidewalk picking up the trash.  I felt as though people driving by were staring at me thinking I was crazy.  Within about 5 minutes, I became unaware of others that were around me.  I had my partner with me and we just started talking while we were picking up the trash.  It began to really feel good to help the neighborhood clean up its landscape.  As we were cleaning up some papers, a 40-year-old woman walked up from behind us.  She stopped up and asked,

“What are you guys picking up?”

“We’re just picking up the trash” I answered back.

She began talking to me about how she believes that people learn about littering or not littering (respecting the environment) at an early age.  We discussed how we are surprised by the amount of trash that is on the ground in such a beautiful neighborhood.  She said she believes that the trash comes from cars.  We continued to discuss how there are trash cans on every block in this neighborhood and how it is saddening that people do not just throw their garbage in the cans. She ended our short conversation with a, “You should be commended.”  I thanked her and continued picking up trash.  By the time we finished the half mile, I was holding one full grocery bag full of garbage from just one side of the street.

This experience left me pondering a couple of questions…

– Why don’t people just throw their garbage in the binds where it belongs?

– Why don’t others pick up trash?  Is it due to fears of germs?  Is it due to fears of being seen by others?  Is it just pure laziness?

I would love to hear about your thoughts on my questions and on your experience picking up trash for this challenge…

May God bless you and Buddha’s teachings guide you throughout your life…
