Books:

- The Chakra Diaries by Becca Chopra – ISBN:1450531911

The use of chakra meditations are found in the school of Vajrayana or Tantric Buddhism. This book follows the life of nine individuals and their workshop/yoga teacher as they learn more about the seven chakras and how closed or unbalanced chakras can affect their lives.  There is a lot of information on techniques to aid in opening closed or unbalanced chakras.  The 220 page book is formatted into seven sections for the seven chakras with one or two stories consisting of several diary entries in each section.  NOTE: There are a couple of sections with vivid sexual material and some fowl language.  I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through this book over the past month.  I got it free on Kindle Fire, but it is now $3.99.  It is selling for $10.99 on Amazon.com.

Great site with loads of information on Buddhism.  Written by the Instilling Goodness School, City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Talmage, CA, this site explains many of the principles of Buddhism, schools of Buddhism and meditations.  Much of the information in the page on Teachings of Theravada Buddhism come from this site.

Good website for more information about Buddhism.  The site was by a Christian turned Buddhist.  The site has not been updated since November 2011, however, there is a lot of really good and useful meditation techniques, information on different schools of Buddhism, and much, much more…

Great source for online texts of Buddhism, Christianity and all other major sacred texts.  This link will take you to the Buddhist section.  I want to suggest “Buddhism in Translations” as a good reference for learning about Buddhism.

Another great source for online information about Theravada Buddhism.  In addition, Online Books has over one million book online on just about any subject.  Check it out and see what you think.

I recently came across this website, which is serviced by the Vipassana Fellowship.  The site was developed to promote the teachings of the Buddha, promote the practice of Vipassana and Samatha meditation and provide guidance and support to people worldwide who wish to explore the Buddha’s path.  At the site, you can find information on practical trainings, meditation resources, Buddhist context, the Pali Canon, audios and books.

I have used this Chakra meditation for a couple of weeks now just to relax myself and focus.  It only take about 10 minutes to sit quietly and focus on the seven chakras.  Now, do I think that the energy flow is really helping me.  Maybe… In any event, the chakra meditation helps me to focus and calm and focus my mind on being positive.  Now that can’t hurt.
